There are a number of fundamental steps and processes in managing a workforce. Different sectors use vastly different terminology. However, here is a one way of describing them.
Capacity planning and resource management are equivalent alternative terms, that are often used in project based sectors like consulting or software. They are similar to Workforce Planning and Workforce Allocation, respectively.
Did you know there is an ISO standard for 'Workforce Planning'? It is ISO 30409. A draft of a 'Workforce Allocation' standard is also under. Contact Alex if you are interested in contributing your expertise in this field.
